In this video Jimmy Kimmel asked people which presidential candidate won last night's debate, but he asked them a day before the debate even took place. This context makes their answers much more interesting.

Sometimes people lie. I've known that ever since my parents told me (SPOILER ALERT) there really was no Santa Claus. People are especially likely to lie when it means they'll look civically responsible, get on TV, and might be able to sway political opinion in their favor. And just imagine how much people would be willing to lie if they were running for president, not that I'm implying anything about the nature of politics.

People are generally very good at lying. If I didn't already know that they didn't watch the debate, I wouldn't have guessed as much from how they were talking. It's as if your average person is an expert at giving just enough detail to not be called on their bullshit.
