Artist Carves Images Into Coins

Over the past decade or two the face of money has made many subtle changes. Most of the changes are brought about because of the filthy counterfeiting trade. So the Mint commissions some brilliant artist to insert an intricate color splash or holographic image to foil the copiers. Then shortly after that, some 12-year old in his basement figures out how to reproduce the monies by melting down old Pokemon cards or something. So if the government is reading this, (which I know they are) I have a referral for a new artist: Paolo Curcio

Barcelona based artist Paolo Curcio has mastered the art of the Hobo Nickel. Using clad coins, he carves images into the metal, creating highly detailed representations of literary figures, pop culture icons and some just plain badass skulls. Pretty incredible.
