This guy orders a big steak at a fancy restaurant and then tries to pay for it with a bag full of pennies.

| Not illegal to not accept it. Only the Federal Reserve has to accept it. Now, since there is a debt that has occurred (as opposed to if he had been required to pay up-front), the restaurant would likely be forced to accept his payment in pennies. |

In the UK a shop/restaurant has the right to refuse pennies up to £3 or £5 worth I believe. Shame as I have about £90 worth of 5pence coins waiting for some lucky shop keeper |

What a retarded analogy the chef comes with, about the blended steak.
100 pennies have the same value as a dollar by law.
But a blended steak does not have the same value as a steak, and it's not what was promised on the menu.
If it was my restaurant, I would just laugh and accept it without even counting it. I doubt this happens a lot, so no big deal. |

omg.. i laughed really hard.. In Ontario, Canada we have the right to refuse money at anytime in certain areas.. i worked on Clifton Hill which is in Niagara Falls in a huge tourist place as a Manager at Buger King and we had the right to not except money if it was ripped, looked fake or anything.. lol i would refuse to except money from people i didnt like. haha but i dont see the problem with it.. you just goto the bank with a bigger bag of money.. its still worth the same.. its just the inconvenience of having that many pennies.. lol |

| I wish we got to see more though. I bet he chickened out right after that, and that's why the video ends there. |

Well I do own a restaurant and there is no way we would argue with a customer who pays even if he is a bit of a dickhead like this gentleman. We would of course count it all out but there is no way our staff are stupid enough to give a sad little moron like this his cheap thrills when the vast, vast majority of our customers are decent people who don't make a scene and in return want good food and good service.
I can't really see what the fuss is about - just take it to the bank and pay it in... |
