photosynth is really cool... you can actually try it for free. just google "photosynth" you'll find it.
you need a pretty fast computer to use it though. |

Its not too far away. There is a controversial option with google now, called "street view", which is basically a bunch of pics put together, that were taken from cars, etc. Its actually really cool.
I guess its caught some people picking their nose, or scaling walls of apartments haha. |

It doesn't look like the tecnology is that great. There is still too much manual work in creating these sceneries. They want you to think it's all done automatically, but it's not. The examples you can see, are taken by on photographer, and they are started by someone manually making the 3d model, and manually fitting some of the pictures to it, after which fitting all the smaller part ones is easily done automatically.
So no, not that impressive |
