Lots of countries has switch hands with that super power title down the centuries. Those who have it behind them these days are suffering from less problems, even old sweden was a super power in europe once some 300 years ago. And it barely didnt pass a year without a war brewing somewhere, now we've had peace for just as long time... It's much better in every way these days i think. The super power is something that just puts money in a few peoples pockets, whilst giving people on the street some meaningless thing to be proud of, while their fellow man dies in some part of the world.
Just a thought from a tosser who's country has been there and done that. |

I think it is part tangerine and part nectarine. Like they had freaky sex or something. Beats me though.
Oh and I live in America and Tyrfingr is right. Being #1 does not mean shit when your government is run by morons like Bush. If we would spend our trillions of dollars on helping people around the world and advancing socially/economicly instead of dropping bombs on brown people for their oil we would be alot better off and alot more deserving of the title. |

At least helping yourselves with the money. Because as i see it, the money you earn as being #1 is something that the average joe never gets any part of. It's just the elite that gets a piece of the cake, while the little guys just dies in some foreign country and gets a medal and some reckognition for a job well done. Or on the civilian front people doesnt have money to cover the healthcare, not to mention the poverty rate in the states. Which strikes me as something that shouldnt exist in a country that boosts about being the biggest and best.
It's been and is like that, in all countries that ever been #1 and in countries all the way down to #100. Unless you are a part of the top bunch of a society, you have no use of being #1 or #100. Most middle class people are having a tough time to cover all expenses, especially those who have a family.
I don't know where on the power list the different countries are. But i learnt one thing, and that is that the living standards are basically the same in the west. The top guys are running off with all the big money, and the average joes are doing pretty much the same. Working hard and making enough to have fun on the weekends or sustaining the families. While being ripped off by insurance companies etc etc.
A good thing that places like YDM exist to have some fun at with decent peeps, humour is a good thing to have to handle the reality of life. |
