There is virtually no fall out with depleted uranium cook-off and is prety much backgroung levels as far as radioactivity. It is used for armour piercing as it is a heavy metal but outside of the body (shrapnel) it is relatively harmless. It does emit Alpha (primary) and Beta particals but these are blocked by the skin and clothing respectively and the gamma radiation released are very low-level.
