I cant believe countrys still own nukes, there is no point as one set off now will cause a nuclear war. I hope they are never used again and better yet, they are all destroyed in the near future. Doubt bush will let that happen anytime soon, wanker

That's why the U.S. is #1!!.... Now, if we could just do something about the ridiculous infant mortality rate, 42,000,000 without health insurance, crime rates that make it more likely to be shot by an uzi by the age 18, a city lost to standing water.etc. and so on..Well, at least we have nukes to feed our hungry and warm our beds.

Nukes are basically a turning point for negotiations of war. Don't nuke me, I won't nuke you x5. They've become more of an indimidation game and I think it'll stay that way, at least until 1. some country's government is so hell-bent on damaging or destroying another country that it doesn't care about its people or its land, or 2. someone invents a weapon more powerful first and takes full advantage of their immediate supreme power. When a more powerful weapon does become invented, hopefully it'll land in the right hands first ("right hands" being any country that wouldn't take advantage of its current supreme power and attempt to create an empire because of it), or so help us god.

By the way, that is among the most idiotic statements, "Doubt bush will let that happen anytime soon, wanker." Bush has nothing to do with other countries owning nukes. Whether or not the US owns nukes won't change the fact that other countries will try to own bigger and more powerful weapons. In order to protect yourself, you pretty much have to show others that you can hit back just as hard.

As for the Hiroshima incident. The atom bomb drop was a huge turning point in the war. And I'm convinced that without that extreme scare tactic against Imperial Japan, WWII would've gone on for quite a bit longer, suffering possibly more casualties. Japan probably would've continued to rape and pillage countless neighbouring countries' towns (China, Philippines...), on top of other civilian and military casualties elsewhere.

Weapons of mass slaughter is terrible, and so is war overall. But given our general human nature to always try to be on top of the food chain, it's something that will always happen. World peace is merely an unattainable dream as long as there is more than one person in existence.

Whats funny is no one knows of the one bomb banned from creation period the Nutron bomb it leaves all buildings all forms of creation with no living organizisms alive but leaves cars clothes buildings PERFECTLY intact it basically makes a city go ghost city in 1 drop of a bomb and does the same area affect of a nuke ...... imagine L.A Or NY With all its buildings but no people at all?.... clothes cars and everything in a house still in tact

We Americans seems to have this nuclear terrorism threat thing resting squarely on our shoulders, and our shoulders alone... I don't see anyone else stepping up to the plate to help us with the investigating of cases of terrorist and organized criminal groups smuggling nuclear Fissile Material and Nuclear Weapon Designs... The theft, loss and sale of bomb grade nuclear material is not something to be taken lightly... We are constantly examining organized crime's involvement, export control problems, and programs and possible solutions for nuclear security... But looking on the bright side, the number of people who know how to make an atomic bomb or a nuclear explosive is extremely limited... There are probable less than a hundred people worldwide with this knowledge... And to say that any worker trained in the field of nuclear physics is a person who could make a nuclear bomb is a stupid exaggeration... And like BossHoss up there said, these thing are not going away, there here to stay... We just need to learn to live with them...

The neutron bomb was intended to be used as a defensive measure against large armored formations though... In case of use near large populated areas there would be shelters to use for the inhabitants.
