	That's some pretty heavy stuff. Its John Simpson, BBC reporter coming under friendly fire. I just hope that the pilot gets to watch this - to see the total carnage he caused, the US troops they were travelling with were angry and embaressed at their fellow men.

Really?? I haven't seen or heard about a single incident in which British troops killed US troops in the last 50 years. Care to provide some evidence??

Also a 120:1 casualty ratio is slightly unrealistic isn't it? As of now there have been 17000 US casualties. Times that by a 120 and you have 2 million 'Middle Eastern' casualties.

	Never seen the entire lenght of that video before just the first part. Thanks scott. One thing is for sure though, it gave the reporter a good view on how it's like to be where a bomb falls . As for friendly kills and all that, all i know is that there's way too many choppers that is involved in accidents with the U.S army. Like crashing when attempting to land, that i couldnt help smiling at after i learnt that everyone was okay. Anyway, friendly kills is unavoidable. In many many cases there's missinformation on where the friendlies are moving, and sometimes information about it can be classified. And let's not forget nerveous recruits, they can be quite triggerhappy and dangerous when shit stirs up.

Helicopters have always had a bad reputation. In Vietnam they lost over 3000 Hueys alone. I'm not saying tehey should be banned or anything but I did read somewhere that rotor blades were lasting 12 hours of flight time in Iraq cos' of the sand. Makes you wonder what you'd rather be in - Humvee or helicopter

	In this day and age, this is totally unacceptable. All ground troops should be marked and noted per area. And a pilot needs to make 150% sure before he launches something. They say that they do their best and its unavoidable, but thats a load of crap. Its easy NOT to push a button. All he has to do is fly low and watch them. If they scatter it looks good, if theyre cheering and just watching, you may want to check into it on the radio a bit better. It all comes down to how impatient and trigger happy a pilot is. SAD!

Today in our black hawks we fly low and hard in iraq to avoid surface to air missles, when you see aircraft poppin flares in videos like that c130 thats real popular its to try and throw of heat signals that the terrorist use to lock onto aircraft. 	I was in the Army for many years and have seen firsthand what happens during battle with both british and US troops. Most of the friendly kills can be put down to a lack battlefield intelligence or coordination between diferent troops. US troops have the highest friendly kill count but their presence in any given arena is usually higher than any other. This coupled with a lack of individuals knowledge of the enemys and allies vehicles (this I can prove as I was posted to USA to teach AFV (armoured fighting vehicle) recognition to an infantry battalion) has led to rather too many mistakes being made. Dont get me wrong here, I am not on the side of the British troops here as they have made a considerable amount of mistakes themselves. The US and UK media just tends to highlight US freindly kills because it sells papers. With the introduction of electronic tagging and increased computer security, this will hopefully be a thing of the past. Everything that shows up blue on your PDA screen is friendly, if it is red, find out what it is then, if appropriate, kill it. Nobody even knows whos fighter dropped that bomb.

Just like everyone else it seems, you left out the russians in WWII, they died in far greater numbers than american and british soldiers combined. And they managed the germans quite nicely on their own. You might have noticed that they rolled into berlin on their own without any help from USA, the aid they got by sea has proved to be insignificent. Besides all that, one of the greatest reasons why the germans failed to win WWII was because of a certain man called hitler, if he had done what stalin did. It wouldnt matter much what the americans had done during that war. Stalin left the war to his generals, hitler didnt, he involved himself in both politics and the war at the same time. And he denied his armies to tactical retreats, which resulted in the germans being encircled and destroyed. Stalingrad is the prime example of such an order. The americans did indeed contribute to the allied victory, no doubt about that. But the war wasent won because of them, you have to take in consideration the huge misstakes the axis forces made, and the job the secret service did as well. The picture is far bigger, and the allied victory isnt that easily explained as 1-2-3. There were ALOT of factors that played a part, there were more than just a couple of occations were the germans could have won. The D-day was one of them, had the german high command mobilized it's defense as they wanted to and hitler haden't opposed it. Things had looked a bit grimmer for the allies at the beaches.

What they don't understand is that whether the US joined in the conflict of ww2 or not the germans were already stretched on the eastern front and were being pasted by the russians. So the bottom line is that the US's involvement in ww2(which they were very reluctantly pushed into(in a we don't want to fight kinda way))on the european front had only a marginal impact.

	The only problem is, Russia would not have advanced so far, not nearly as far, probably would of lost actually if it wasn't for American's intervention. Without the US involvment the Germans would have had much more troops to poor onto the Eastern front, enough to whipe the rest of the Russians out who were dwindling in numbers considerably by the end.

As per the question i agree, though I meant 'which country had the greatest impact'.

Where in my text did i ever mention that the russians had anything to do with the D-day ?, for fucks sake. Dont mean to be rude, but that is common knowledge if there ever was one. Every damn kid knows that it was a U.S - U.K operation... I took up the D-day as an example of an occation where the germans could have won, at least temporarily kept the western allies out of the european mainland... Just read what it says!.. *sigh*

Some people just seem to avoid seeing what people are writing on this site it seems, first is was Bah... I mean it's one thing to be hearing impared and miss out on what people say, but when somebody reads text and have alot of time to do it. And still fail to see what it means. Although I must admit there have been a rather disproportionately high number of friendly fire 'mistakes' in US troops in Iraq (as compared to many other countries) - even when actively trying to find reports about other troops and friendly fire incidents.
